Update on Schafer Hall
We’re excited to be making progress on the new Schafer Hall, a space that will be a little bit of everything for everyone! It will serve as a gathering room, meeting spot, classroom, game hall, bride/groom lounge, and even a place for parties and big game watches. Most importantly, it will be a welcoming outreach space for our congregation and the community.
To bring this vision to life, we’ve put together an Amazon Wish List for anyone who wants to help furnish the space. For a link to the Wish List or if you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Christian Amolsch (camolsch@ gmail.com) or Amber Telleen (ambertelleen@gmail.com).
Helping our neighbors...St. Columba’s Water Ministry clients need our help!
St. Columba’s Water Ministry provides showers, laundry service, a place to relax and talk, and a hot midday meal to the needy and homeless in our community. During my recent
volunteer work there, I observed that many of those who benefit from the ministry have very few personal belongings. If you have gently used or new winter clothing (men’s and women’s), pullovers, hoodies, sweaters, socks, coats, hats, gloves, scarves, adult shoes, backpacks, or roller suitcases, that you would like to donate, the Water Ministry could make good use of them.
Please contact Steven Cooper at coopersw1@gmail.com for donation logistics. Thank you!
Have YOU Seen Jesus Yet?
Keep looking! Jesus is in the church keeping watch, so you may not be able to see him, but he can see you! Make sure that you report your findings back to Lisa Wackler, so she can keep a record of which ones have been found.
FUNERAL PLANNING GUIDE
One of the most difficult experiences that anyone must address during the course of their lifetime is their own death or the death of a loved one. Oftentimes the task is made even more difficult because decisions about the service are left unaddressed, leaving families to plan a funeral or memorial service without knowing just what the decedent would have wanted.
St. Paul’s has a Funeral Planning Guide that starts this important conversation. This guide encourages everyone—even those in the prime of their lives—to think about and record what their wishes for a funeral service would be: for example, type of service, favorite Scripture or hymns, and whether or not Holy Communion is to be celebrated. Once completed, one copy of the Funeral Planning Guide should stay with the person’s important papers, and a second copy should be filed at the church.
If you would like a copy of the Funeral Planning Guide, please contact Joy Belew in the Church office (202-966-5489) or email Pastor Andrea (awalker@stpaulslutherandc.com) or Lisa Wackler (lwackler@stpaulslutherandc.com).
